Why is now the right time for change?
The Church of England in the Diocese of Portsmouth has reached a crossroads. After 75 years of faithful mission and ministry, new models are needed to help the Church meet the new challenges of the 21st century. Radical thinking is required in the areas of mission and engagement with the community; the ministry the Church offers to its congregations and the wider world; and the management of our resources to help us re-discover our calling to be salt and light in this world. The bishop has called for a strategic review of all that we do at diocesan, deanery and parish level to help us think this through more clearly.

The process has been titled "Kairos", a Greek word which suggests a watershed, an opportune moment for change, a decisive turning point, a season which God has given us to think afresh about all we do.

Overview of our Cluster plan and progress ....
The key objective is to Increase the relevance of the church in the world today > more
1. Growing People.
Marriage Course, led by Crookhorn, held one course at Crookhorn last year and another is running at present at Purbrook.
2. Cluster Organisation and Co-operation.
Joint worship at Pentecost, Harvest and Advent last year and this year Candlemas and Easter so far, with joint services planned for Pentecost, Harvest and Advent. The Cluster clergy are planning further joint initiatives.
3. Liaison with Civic Authority.
Three of the Cluster churches are participating in a scheme with Hampshire Constabulary for the training of new Police students, whereby they will be spending five days with the cluster churches getting to know the area. This is a rolling programme.
4. Provision of Information.

Christ Church Portsdown
The style of worship is making flexible use of Common Worship, the church offers a contemporary spirituality using a blend of modern and traditional styles of worship including Communion and All Age suitable for all the family.

Church of the Good Shepherd, Crookhorn (COGS)
The style of worship is modern and relaxed; with no organ music is provided by the older tradition of a band using contemporary instruments. Bible readings, song words and sermon illustrations are projected using a computer and video projectors.

St. George the Martyr, Waterlooville (St George's)
The style of worship is modern Anglo-Catholic. At the majority of services, the sacrament of Holy communion is celebrated. The church normally uses established patterns for it's liturgy including evensong, compline and benediction.
